The music video for the Kingdom Hearts song “Hikari” by Hikaru Utada is now available on YouTube in 4K resolution. Utada is celebrating the release of their new greatest hits album Science Fiction on April 10, 2024, which includes the song.
“Hikari” originally released on March 20, 2002, and it was the third single for the artist’s “Deep River” fourth studio album. “Hikari” was featured as the first promotional theme song Hikaru Utada performed for Square Enix’s action-RPG series Kingdom Hearts. Utada also composed an English version titled “Simple and Clean.”
Mirroring the English title for the track, the music video depicts artist Hikaru Utada doing the dishes in a small apartment kitchen. This is in contrast to the animated opening cinematic for Kingdom Hearts, which features a remix version of both the Japanese and English versions titled “Hikari (PlanitB Remix)” and “Simple and Clean (PlanitB Remix),” respectively.
