Shueisha confirmed the production of Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc at Jump Festa 2024. The company also added a new webpage dedicated to the new movie on the franchise’s anime website. MAPPA, the studio that also produced the 2022 TV anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man, is working on this movie.
The official teaser trailer for Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc is available to view on MAPPA’s YouTube channel. It shows a sneak peek of interactions between Reze and the series protagonist Denji.
Chainsaw Man originated as a manga series that Tatsuki Fujimoto published in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. A new part of the manga launched in Shonen Jump+ in July 2022, and it is still ongoing as of December 2023. The first TV anime adaptation of the series aired in October 2022 and ran for twelve episodes.
Various merchandise and collaborations featuring the franchise have also appeared in recent months in Japan. Tokyu Hotels in Osaka had a Chainsaw Man collaboration featuring the series characters in suits from August 2023 to October 2023. Meanwhile, Good Smile Company is producing PLAMAX model kits of Pochita that will be available in Japan in January 2024 and North America in Q2 2024.
Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc, which is currently under production, will be available to view in theaters. The movie’s launch window is still unknown as of this announcement.
