Celebrate Sonic’s fifteenth birthday with GameTap

The online gaming service, GameTap, was lucky enough to get some exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog content. GameSetWatch passed on the details about Sonic Week starting June 22^nd on GameTap. During this week players will be able to relive the days of “lock on technology” based on the Sonic & Knuckles cart. If you plugged Sonic 3 into the lock on cart the game would allow players to play through both games to get Super Sonic or Super Knuckles. The lock-on cartridge could also be used with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to put Knuckles in as the star of Sonic 2. The big surprise in Sonic week is that you can play with Knuckles in Sonic 1 too. This is a first since lock on technology with Sonic 1 gets players the blue sphere bonus game. GameTap also said that there would be new areas and special powers for Sonic week. The details are vague, but it is only a couple of days until we will get more details on the new additions in some classic Sonic games.
