Catch Neon Genesis Evangelion On Netflix In 2019

Netflix is expanding its anime library. In Spring 2019, people will be able to find Neon Genesis Evangelion on Netflix. The streaming service revealed that it will be the home of the original anime series and the movies Evangelion: Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion. 

Neon Genesis Evangelion follows Shinji Ikari. His father, Gendo, is head of NERV. A United Nations organization, it sends teenage EVA pilots out in Evangelion units to fight creatures known as Angels. These creatures have been appearing since the Second Impact, an incident that caused untold damage worldwide and was supposedly caused by a meteorite hitting Earth. The series looks at how Shinji, other EVA pilots Asuka and Rei, and members of NERV deal with being in positions where they are relied upon as the few people who can help defend humanity. It also looks into the truth behind NERV, the Second Impact, Angels, and Evangelions.

The two Neon Genesis Evangelion movies Evangelion: Death (True)2 and The End of Evangelion offer people another look at the series and different ending. Evangelion: Death (True)2 is the final edit of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth. It is made up of two parts, with the first being Death and covering clips of used and cut footage from the anime’s first 24 episodes and the Rebirth part being new footage that leads into and is taken from The End of Evangelion. The End of Evangelion is an alternate ending to the series that offer a different possibility, as opposed to the 25 and 26 episodes of the anime.

Neon Genesis Evangelion originally began its run in Japan in October 1995. Evangelion: Death (True)2, the edit of 1997’s Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth, appeared in 1998. The End of Evangelion appeared in 1997.
