Cat Mario amiibo Can Unlock White Cat Mario

When Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury launches, it will be compatible with a number of amiibo. For example, the upcoming Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo are specifically designed for the game, while the existing Bowser and Bowser Jr. ones will also each do something special in the game. To help people determine which ones they might need to buy, Nintendo took to Twitter to explain what each one will do.

While all four figures will be helpful, they’ll assist players in different ways. The Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo will each have benefits that can help provide different buffs. Scanning the new Mario will turn a player’s character into White Cat Mario. Someone in that state can’t be damaged. Meanwhile, tapping Peach to the sensor will cause a random power-up to appear.

Meanwhile, both the Bowser and Bowser Jr. amiibo seem to focus on temporary offensive abilities. Fury Bowser, the star of the Lake Lapcat Bowser’s Fury area, will appear if you tap that amiibo to the controller. Bowser Jr. will destroy all blocks and “knockout” any of the enemies that are immediately around the player when you scan him into the game.

In addition to the amiibo explanation, there’s a new trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. It’s a seven-minute long extended overview.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury releases on Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021, and the Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo will appear that same day. People who buy it can also complete missions to get a My Nintendo pin set. It is immediately available on the Nintendo Wii U.
