Capcom Pro Tour Online Postponed ‘With Respect to Current Events’

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The Capcom Pro Tour Online, which would have given people a chance to play Street Fighter V competitively online following the COVID-19 pandemic making in-person tournaments impossible, has been delayed. Instead of having the event begin on June 6, 2020 with North America East 1 Black B, the event will kick off with the Europe East and Middle East 1 tournament on June 13, 2020. In its statement, Capcom affirmed its support for Black Lives Matter and said, “there are bigger, more important voices that deserve to be heard right now.”

In addition to the postponed event, Capcom will also be temporarily stepping back on social media. The company noted that all of its accounts will not be posting any game-related posts for the immediate future, to allow others to have the spotlight.

Here is Capcom’s full statement, which it shared on Twitter.

With respect to current events, Capcom will refrain from game-related posts on our social channels for the time being. We will also be postponing Capcom Pro Tour Online, which was scheduled to begin this weekend.

We at Capcom support Black communities and everyone who is standing against racism and fighting for equality for all. We understand that there are bigger, more important voices that deserve to be heard right now, and the spotlight belongs to them.

With the schedule change, the June 2020 Capcom Pro Tour Online dates should be as follows:

  • June 20-21, 2020: North America East 1 (Block B)
  • June 27-28, 2020: Asia South East 1 (Block G)

The Capcom Pro Tour Online 2020 will run from June-November 2020.
