V Rising is finally coming out of early access on PC alongside some new additions and features. One of the features that have been lacking in the game up until this point has been official support for the Steam Deck and controllers. Is V Rising Steam Deck verified, and does it have controller support?
Is V Rising Steam Deck Verified?
First and foremost, Steam Deck owners like myself will want to know if they are able to play this online-only vampire survival game on the go. Unfortunately, at this time, V Rising has not been verified for the Steam Deck. Instead, it is simply marked as “playable,” which matches my own experience with the title so far.
Playable means you can enjoy most, if not all, of the game on the Steam Deck, but there may be some issues here and there. For instance, you might need a keyboard at some point. In my experience, this game works really well on the Steam Deck. There are some hiccups here and there with the frame rate, but it generally looks and plays well without changing the settings much.
Is There Controller Support for V Rising?
In addition to being available to play on Steam Deck, there is the question of whether there is controller support for V Rising. This is where things get a bit tricky. The 1.0 release does include official controller support, alongside a dedicated UI. This is not just for the upcoming PS5 version, but PC as well.
However, at least during my review of V Rising 1.0 on Steam Deck, it didn’t automatically switch to the controller format. I had to manually go in and switch the controller method to GamePad through Steam itself for this game, specifically. This is because the mouse and keyboard were the default control methods. Once I did that, the actual controller support began. Hopefully, this will be fixed in the near future, but yes, there is controller support.
V Rising 1.0 is available right now on PC. It will also come out for PS5 sometime in 2024.
