How to change the time of day in Spider-Man 2

To be straightforward, no, you can not manually change the time of day in Spider-Man 2. Surprisingly, the ability to tweak this setting was removed in the sequel. This omission might strike some fans as a curious decision. Particularly because the first game in the series did offer the option to switch between day and night. The reason for dropping this feature remains unclear. Perhaps Insomniac Games believed it wasn’t widely used in the original game and thus decided to forgo it.

Alternatively, the developers might have intentionally chosen to maintain nighttime missions as stylistic set pieces, distinct from open-world gameplay. This decision could be a deliberate design choice to create a clear separation between story-driven sequences and the sandbox experience. As a result, the only way to change the time of day in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is to progress the main story.

Will we ever be able to change the time of day in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

Fortunately, developers often utilize post-launch patches to fine-tune their games based on player feedback and expectations. It’s entirely reasonable to hope that Insomniac Games may choose to reintroduce this feature through a patch to please fans. With the Spider-Man 2 Photo Mode being one of the game’s best features, it would be a welcome addition to allow fans to take nighttime shots.

Nonetheless, the decision to remove the feature could have been based on valid design or storytelling considerations. In that case, it might remain absent in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The outcome will ultimately depend on the Insomniac’s considerations and the feedback from the player community. As the game evolves and matures post-launch, fans may yet see the return of this feature. Only time will tell.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
