In honor of Final Fantasy XVI being a year old, Square Enix shared a message from Main Director Hiroshi Takai, and it included a brief PC version update. While there’s no release date yet, he confirmed they all are “hard at work” on that version of the game.
The Final Fantasy XVI PC port first came up back in May 2023. At the time, Producer Naoki Yoshida noted it was in development. At PAX West 2023, it was teased again. Most recently in March 2024, Yoshida said the team was planning to release a PC demo, just like it did for the PS5 release.
However, aside from the confirmation the team is working on the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI and wants to make the entry “available to play for as many people as possible,” Takai didn’t offer any other platform updates.
Here’s Takai’s full message for this entry’s first anniversary.
In addition to the message, an array of new merchandise recently showed up. Final Fantasy XVI designs are among the new t-shirt collection available at Uniqlo worldwide. There will also be a Form-ism figure depicting Clive, Joshua, Jill, and Torgal when they all were young.
Final Fantasy XVI is available on the PlayStation 5. A PC version of the game is also in development, but there’s no release window for it yet.
