Bleach Anime English Voice Actor Explains Decision to Leave His Role Chad

There is a new English voice actor for Yasutora “Chad” Sado in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime adaptation. Alain Mesa will now play the role instead of Jamieson Price. To help explain what’s going on and his decision to step away from the role, Price took to Twitter. In short, he said, “…I no longer audition for roles of people of color.”

Here’s Price’s full series of tweets explaining his decision to no longer serve as the English voice actor for Chad in the Bleach anime. He noted that he loved the role, but decided to remove himself from the role to allow more access and better representation.

In addition to the role of Chad in Bleach, Mesa appeared as Salazar in Great Pretender, Victor Garcia Hernandez in Forza Horizon 5, and Alejandro Vargas in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is available to stream via Disney+ and Hulu.
