Blazing Chrome, the next title from the developer of Castlevania-inspired Odallus: The Dark Call, will bring players back to the glory days of run n’ gun with its Contra and Metal Slug-inspired action.
Players will be able to choose from one of two characters, playing as Mavra, a human resistance soldier, and Doyle, a “groovy rebel robot”. Both will have access to an array of weapons, and will use them to hose weird alien creatures, menacing robots, and other undead-like entities. There is little explanation as to why they are doing so at the moment, but players can see they will be ‘resisting’ whatever the resistance is against using many, many bullets.
Players will be able to play the game in co-op, although there is no mention on whether this will be local or online. The developers have also hinted that, while these games are inspired by Contra and Metal Slug, that they will put their own spin on the genre, much as Odallus carved out its own territory in gothic horror sidescrolling action games.
Blazing Chrome has no release date at this time, but players can follow its development through developer Joymasher’s site.
