Leibniz is the pilot of the Metal Attacker Garuda. His home planet was destroyed by mutants that overran him. Although he was very hostile against Jason and Eve in Blaster Master Zero 2, he helped defend Earth from a mutant invasion at one point.

Meanwhile, the planet Stranga native Kanna pilots the Metal Attacker EIR. She will also return in Blaster Master Zero 3 with her support droid Kenwood for reasons yet unknown.

Inti Creates will conclude the Blaster Master Zero trilogy story with the upcoming third game. It will feature the physical appearances of Jennifer and Kane Gardner from Metafight, the original Japanese version of the inaugural Blaster Master game. The game will also have new gameplay features, such as the VRV system.

Blaster Master Zero 3 will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on July 29, 2021. Limited Run Games will sell physical copies of the title, although all of the pre-order allotments have already sold out. Meanwhile, Inti Creates will release a physical compilation of the Blaster Master Zero Trilogy in Japan and Asia with new Japanese voiceovers.
