Holy leaping frogs, a re-imagining of Blaster Master came out of left field. Sunsoft just announced Blaster Master Overdrive for WiiWare.

Blaster Master Overdrive has a mix of overhead shooting and tank riding platforming, just like the original. S.O.P.H.I.A., the massive tank used in the platforming parts, can be upgraded with different parts like a drill (from Blaster Master 2, maybe?) and grappling hook. You’ll need those to progress through the game’s eight stages, each with its own mutant boss at the end.
While this is the first we’ve heard of Blaster Master Overdrive, it’s done. The game hits WiiWare in North America on Monday and costs 1,000 Wii Points ($10).
