Bit.Trip Studio’s Next Rhythm Game Explores A Dead Astronaut’s Memories

Choice Provisions (formerly Gaijin Games) is the studio that made the Bit.Trip series and it has revealed that its next music/rhythm game will be out for PlayStation 4 and PC on September 22nd.

But it’s not another Bit.Trip game. Far from it. In fact, it’s called Laserlife – a game that the studio first teased back in 2010 – and it has you exploring the memories of a dead astronaut.

This astronaut is found floating through space by a future intelligence that has technology capable of extracting the physical elements of memory. You do this by controlling two lasers as they travel through tunnelled environments and have them move through objects to the beat of the music.

Laserlife is an experience that’s meant to be played through in one sitting. It’s an exploration, largely through symbolism, of what it means to be a human. By the end of the game, you will have unlocked several key memories of the astronaut’s life, allowing you to review their existence, as if looking at a portrait,” writes Choice Provisions.
