A massive chunk of Starfield is the space combat. It is a challenge to master the art of fighting in space, so it helps to have one of the best Starfield fighter ship builds. For players of all pilot licenses, these are the ships and builds I recommend using if you want to excel in space combat.
Best Starfield Fighter Ship Builds for A-Class Pilots
Everyone starts out in Starfield as an A-class pilot. Unfortunately, ships like the Frontier that you get at the start aren’t great and won’t last you long in combat, especially later in the game. Fortunately, there are two great ships worth considering that are both totally free.
The first is the Star Eagle ship, which you can get as a reward from the Freestar Collective Rangers storyline. It is a powerful and versatile ship with three weapons, which are capable of both destroying and disabling ships. Here are the stats for it:

- Cargo: 2,500
- Crew: 5
The other ship I recommend for A-class pilots is the Mantis ship, also known as the Razorleaf, which you can get from the Mantis Secret Outpost quest. This is a legendary A-class ship that is the most powerful in its class by default without any upgrades necessary. Here are the stats for it:
- Hull: 469
- Shields: 390
- Cargo: 420 (160 shielded)
- Crew: 2
Sure, it might seem weak but its weapons will tear through foes before they can defeat it. If you want bulky, go for the Star Eagle. If you want pure power, go for the Razorleaf.
Best Starfield Fighter Ship Builds for B-Class
There is one ship I recommend for the B-class players who have upgraded their Piloting skill in the game. That ship is the Shieldbreaker. You can get this one from the ship technician at New Atlantis.

The Shieldbreaker is the right mix of offense and defense, able to withstand most lengthy fights and having some great weapons to fend off enemies. It will do you well until you reach the C-class.
Best Starfield Fighter Ship Builds for C-Class
Finally, if you are able to reach Piloting rank four, you can pilot C-class ships, which are the best in the game. For the best fighter-centric C-class ship money can buy, head to Paradiso on Porrima II and pick up the Abyss Trekker there from the ship technician. Unfortunately, it will cost you around 348,000 credits, but it is worth it for the stats.

You trade cargo for a massive set of crew members to help out in fights and a bulky exterior. It will outlast almost all ships you’ll encounter in the game and it has three terrific weapons by default that will destroy most ships with ease before they know what happens. It is fast, too, ensuring you can get in and out of fights quite quickly.
