Final Fantasy XIV features many different currencies for players to keep up with, but one of the most important (at least for non-endgame content) are Poetics. Poetics are available from just about every major duty content, such as Alliance Raids and dungeons, that aren’t part of the current expansion. Here are the best items to purchase with Allagan Tomestone of Poetics in FFXIV and where to buy them, to help make your adventuring easier.
Best Armor and Weapons to Buy with Allagan Tomestone of Poetics
By far, the most important items players should purchase with Poetics are pieces of gear for their various job classes. You can get weapons and armor alike for all of the Disciples of War and Magic with this currency up to the previous expansion. At this point and time it is Shadowbringers, though it will shift with the release of Dawntrail. I suggest getting the best possible armor and weapons for your current level.
The goal is simple: head to the locations below, look for your particular job’s gear, and buy the highest possible item level for it. For instance, if you are a level 60 Ninja, you want to buy the Augmented Shire of Scouting gear in Idyllshire.
Here are all of the locations you should visit for your respective current level:
- Level 50 gear: Any of the three starting cities or Mor Dhona (look for item level 130)
- Level 60 gear: Idyllshire (Item level 270)
- 70 gear: Rhalgr’s Reach (Item level 400)
- Level 80 gear: Eulmore (Item level 530)
Best Non-Combat Items to Buy with Allagan Tomestone of Poetics
While most people will want to get the highest-level gear for their class with Poetics, there are other items you can get. You can get some crafting materials and other random items. Most of them are honestly junk you can get for cheap on the market board, but some are great. For instance, the Aluminum Ore in Eulmore is necessary for Duraluminum Ingots, which is one of the most useful Blacksmith items.
When in doubt, right click or use the Square button to look up crafting recipes that involve the materials to know if they are important for you or not. From there, you can determine if you should use your Poetics to get them or instead head to the market board to buy some that way instead.
