Peter Parker and Miles Morales have a variety of skills to explore in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, you will need to think carefully about how you spend your experience points in the early stages of the game as skill points are limited.

In my perspective, prioritizing value is essential during the first half of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. That’s why I recommend focusing on skills from the shared skill tree of Peter and Miles. This tree offers a broader range of abilities and effectively grants you two skills for the cost of one. Also, many of the exciting abilities in the solo Skill Trees are locked behind story progression, making it easier to diversify between Peter and Miles in the early stages.

Here are the best early-game Skills in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The shared skill tree provides upgrades for combat and traversal, offering a variety of ability options. Here are the skills I recommend focusing on early:

  • Slingshot Launch: Not only is it at the beginning of the skill tree anyway, but it’s also an essential skill to speed up traversal, allowing you to slingshot across the city in designated areas. You’ll want to follow these up with Loop De Loop and Corner Tether from the same branch as soon as possible.
  • Web Whip: This allows you to disarm enemies and throw their weapons right back at them. This is another crucial ability, as you will face off against many armed baddies at the beginning of the story.
  • Web Throw: This lets you toss around the enemies you’ve webbed up, electrified, or venom-stunned
  • Combo Resupply: Your gadgets are super handy in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and this skill gives you a chance to gain a freebie by comboing enemies.

Additionally, you should also acquire Miles’ Venom Dash and Venom Jump early on. These skills substantially boost Miles’ combat flexibility, equipping him with valuable tools for a wide range of encounters. Peter essentially receives his initial abilities for free, which is enough until his full skill tree unlocks.

By nabbing these early-game skills in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you’ll find it significantly more manageable to tackle the challenges presented to both Peter and Miles. These skills serve as a foundation, allowing you to experiment and diversify as you advance through the skill tree with the essential tools for success at your disposal.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
