When it comes to the original Dragon Ball (the anime version), the best arc for action fans involves the Red Ribbon Army. Young Goku takes on so many different fascinating foes during this arc, and each battle looks terrific and almost feels like a puzzle for him to solve on how to defeat them.

Best Arc for Character Development: Piccolo Jr.

The final arc of the original Dragon Ball anime sees a young adult Goku who feels much closer to his Z version. The introduction of the Piccolo fans know and love, and the recurring idea of turning your enemy into an ally becomes clear here. It also features some solid development for Goku and Chi Chi’s relationship.

Best Dragon Ball Z Arc: Cell Saga

Regarding Dragon Ball Z, Cell Saga stands above all other story arcs in every way. It may even be the best overall arc in the entire franchise. The stakes are the highest, the emotions are at full force, character development is rampant, and the action is top-tier. Plus, it allows characters like the Androids and Gohan to shine.

Best Dragon Ball Super Arc: Tournament of Power

Dragon Ball Super has its own fair share of arcs across the manga and anime alike, but the Tournament of Power feels spectacular in every way. It has some of the most intense fights in the series, with many of them ranking among the best of all time, like Gohan and Frieza versus Dyspo, Vegeta versus Top, and Goku and Frieza versus Jiren.

Best Dragon Ball GT Arc: Baby Saga

While this series may not have the most fans, it has a very solid arc in the grand scheme of the franchise with the Baby Saga. Baby is an intriguing and fun villain who adds layers to characters like Vegeta. It also introduces Super Saiyan 4, which stands out as the best thing to come from GT.
