While you have a sizeable crew in Persona 5 Tactica, you only get three at a time on missions. So who are the best characters to add to your party in Persona 5 Tactica?

It’s actually pretty viable to use anyone in this game, however there is definitely some synergy to be had through certain setups. For example, gun attacks are far and away the most useful in this game. Because of this, Yusuke and Joker are solid staples for the party due to the way both boost gun damage.

Best characters for Persona 5 Tactica battles

For most of the game, you’ll be fighting battles and defeating every enemy on the map. This is when you want to make sure your party synergy is on point. For example, as mentioned earlier, Yusuke and Joker both boost gun damage passively. Therefore, both Haru and Makoto, who deal high gun damage, get huge benefits from being paired with them.

Makoto slightly edged out Haru here for me, but only because her healing ability hits all three party members. However, if either of the others have a sub-Persona with a healing skill, this can be mitigated.

You can really build a team around anyone, however. The only character who gets outclassed in the game is Erina. She doesn’t have a Persona, and therefore can’t equip sub-Personas. Early in the game, this isn’t a big deal and her extra strength makes up for it. However, as the sub-Personas start to offer stat increases in the high double digits, Erina just can’t keep up.

Best party members to bring on escape missions

A handful of missions require the characters to reach a certain area, usually all the way across the map. These missions are typically not combat focused, and focus more on escape or survival.

Morgana fans better enjoy this, because this is the only time I’m gonna recommend he go into a party. He and Yusuke share an incredible base movement range of seven. Unfortunately, Haru falls incredibly short in this regard, literally. You’ll want to keep her and her base four movement range on the bench for these missions. Ann and Makoto only fair slightly better, as each have five.

Throw together a party of Morgana, Yusuke and someone like Joker for these missions if you want them to be over swiftly and smoothly.

At the end of the day, all the characters are viable in most regards. If your favorite character is Makoto, then by all means take her into every battle. Just try to build your party around each ones’ strengths and weaknesses.

Persona 5 Tactica is available for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
