Be a real hero with Dragon Quest VIII

Getting a shiny new game as a holiday gift is great isn’t it? Maybe you’re even luckier and will get a brand new Xbox 360. As gamers, we’re lucky to have enough discretionary income to burn fifty bucks at will. Sadly, most of the world… even most of America isn’t that lucky.

This year has been absolutely crazy. I don’t want to bring up any bad memories, but there was the Tsunami in South East Asia on December 2004, that the world is still recovering from. Then later on, the US was hit with Katrina and Wilma too many people were left homeless. Now, I can’t say we as a gaming community can fix every problem in the world, but we at Siliconera want to make a difference.

As you can probably see, we’ve been running an ad campaign for Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. Instead of keeping any of the profits, we’re going to use all of the proceeds from this campaign to buy toys through Amazon for Toys for Tots. At least this way some children will be able to have something to smile about during this holiday season. Here’s how you can help out without giving any money. See that banner to your right? Click on it and check out the Dragon Quest VIII site. Our goal is to get 3,000 clicks by the end of this month. If we can do that we’ll be able to buy a lot of toys.

Think you want to do more? Spread the word. Get your friends, acquaintances, even your mortal enemies to click on the banner. The more clicks we get, the more toys we’ll be able to purchase. If you feel really inclined to do more, like donate something, check out Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play Charity or Games Can Help.
