In a recent interview, PlatinumGames studio head Atsushi Inaba said that Bayonetta 3 will see a change in design process compared to the first two games, as the company is attempting to build a new foundation. [Thanks, Video Games Chronicle!]

According to Inaba, 2019 will be an important year for PlatinumGames, as it will see them move towards self-publishing their games. Part of this is the creation of two new IPs owned entirely by Platinum, which have yet to be announced. It’s the first step into letting the studios fully decide their direction and work, such as whether they make sequels. For example, he cites Bayonetta 2 as one game where a lot of negotiation had to be done before they were allowed to work on it.

As for Bayonetta 3, it will be changed in design process thanks to the studio’s experience in making the first two games. Inaba did not elaborate on when an announcement might come for their unannounced games.

Bayonetta 3 is in development for Nintendo Switch.
