Baba is You is a puzzler whose rules are in constant flux, letting players move the game’s written rules around by pushing parts of them around, creating or breaking how the game plays.
Each of Baba is You’s many puzzle maps feature a handful of that map’s rules written out in the environment. Things like ‘Wall Is Stop’ or ‘Pillar Is Push’ are written out in the environments, with players able to move the words around to break those rules. Should players shove the ‘Stop’ out of ‘Wall Is Stop’, walls will no longer stop the player from moving. If players remove the ‘Push’ from ‘Pillar Is Push’, the pillar will no longer move.
Players can use these rules to find their way out of the game’s puzzles, but can also play around with which words are in each sentence to change sillier features of the game’s world. They can turn the playable character into different creatures and objects, multiply items thousandfold, or create other playful effects of the player’s choosing.
Baba is You is projected to release in 2018.
