By Platformer Ayo: A Rain Tale follows a young girl, Ayo, as she heads out into the desert to find water for her family during a drought.
Taking place in Sub-Saharan Africa, players will head out into the stark, bleak desert on the young girl’s daily chore, but will find many more dangers than just the blazing heat. Ayo will have to leap and double jump across crumbling platforms in lava-filled caverns, hop on clouds during raging thunderstorms, and dodge overgrown natural creatures that will try to hunt her down.
While inspired by the real-world lives of young girls in Africa who have to fetch water for communities with no access to it otherwise, there are some supernatural elements to Ayo: A Rain Tale. Ayo will come across powerful beings and supernatural foes as she seeks out water, using her platforming skills to escape and overcome them as well. Not all of them mean to do her harm, though, with these spectral beings offering guidance and encouragement as Ayo overcomes her fears.
Ayo: A Rain Tale will offer players a journey filled with danger and hidden paths when it releases in Q3 of this year.
