Koei Tecmo recently revealed that players can unlock a special mission featuring Dead or Alive’s Ayane in Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, by completing the main story. 4Gamer gives us a first look with some new screenshots featuring the Dead or Alive heroine.
Upon completing the story, you’ll unlock a special mission featuring Ayane in Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden, where she’s been requested to search for a missing girl in Hikami mountain.
Once Ayane gets to the Hikami mountain, she snuck into a closed down hotel, but is then severely wounded by an entity from the hidden world. After making an escape, she becomes tied to the world of the dead, where she must hide from the spirits.
The girl who went missing is named Tsumugi Katashina, and she apparently went into the mountains after a failed suicide attempt, due to having a complex with her family who favor her half-sister.
Prior to Ayane’s disappearance, she already met up with Tsumugi, and connected a special purple thread to her, which you’ll use to find her.
Since Ayane won’t be able to simply beat up the spirits, she’ll have to rely on her kunoichi stealth skills to hide from them.
Running and getting too close to a spirit will result in her getting caught, so you’ll need to be careful out there. The stealth meter on the right-side of the screen will let you know if things get too dangerous.
Getting caught by a spirit will have the other nearby spirits go after Ayane, too, so you’ll need to careful go behind to attack them to get through at some parts.
Instead of her regular attacks, Ayane will rely on the Spirit Stone Torch to fight off spirits. Using it can stun them and temporarily stop their movements, which will come in handy when you want to get through spirit-filled areas.
Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden is slated for release in Japan on September 27, 2014 for Wii U.
