Koei Tecmo is the publisher and Gust is the developer for Atelier Ryza 2, which has yet to be announced. The classification doesn’t indicate which platform(s) but it’ll likely be PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC like its predecessor. Last year, Atelier Ryza producer Junzo Hosoi hinted at the possibility when he mentioned that the next Atelier game could have Ryza return as the protagonist.

When Atelier Ryza released in Japan in September 2019, it had the strongest launch sales in the series’ history with over 150,000 units sold. Prior to the game’s launch, Koei Tecmo announced that the game had a notably high number of pre-orders outside of Japan.

As for the overall performance of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, last April we learned that the game reached a milestone of 420,000 units in global shipments and digital sales. This made it the best-selling Atelier game of all-time, shattering the previous record of 370,000 units held by Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book. That said, it makes sense as to why Koei Tecmo and Gust would want to get a sequel going sooner than later.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is currently in development. Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
