The general gameplay system for the new arcade game was explained in detail at JAEPO 2020. A player can use three Shinki units by either renting digital units or scanning cards generated from the Card Connect printer machine. The player can then customize armaments for each unit before sending them as a team into a four-player battle royal. The objective in the battle is to collect gems scattered all around the map until the time runs out. A player’s gem collection can also be reduced if their unit is shot down by other opponents.

Busou Shinki is a series of mecha-musume action figures released by Konami since 2006. The PC online service Shinki-Net, which consisted of the Busou Shinki: Battle Rondo duel game and a virtual diorama studio, was established in the same year, but shut down in 2011. Konami also released a couple of games related to the franchise on PlayStation Portable. Busou Shinki: Battle Masters was released in July 2010, and its definitive Mk.2 upgrade followed in September 2011.

After a long period of dormancy, Konami announced the revival of the franchise at JAEPO 2020 with not only Battle Conductor but also a new mobile game titled Busou Shinki R, which is currently still under development.

Armored Princess: Battle Conductor will launch in Japanese arcades on December 24, 2020.
