As of March 31, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has reached 13.41 million units in worldwide sales over six weeks. 11.77 million units of those sales came in its first 11 days. These numbers come from Nintendo’s report on its financial results.
The chart above highlights how sales of New Horizons compare to other Animal Crossing games. As you can see, it’s already the best-selling game in the series. (Fun fact: Animal Crossing: New Horizons has already surpassed Pokémon Sword and Shield in Japanese sales). It should be interesting to see if the game can outsell the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon worldwide.
We also recently reported that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was Twitter’s most talked about game in Japan. In addition to this, high fashion brands like Valentino and Marc Jacob have created their very own clothing lines for players to download in the game.
In case you missed it, the Nintendo Switch console reached a new milestone of 55 million units worldwide, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons played a big role in that. You can read more from Nintendo’s latest financial results here. We also got to check out a Lego Ideas project featuring Nook’s Cranny.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch.
