It is now looking like paid Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC might not be a thing players would have to worry about. Nintendo’s official site for the game has been updated. While the ESRB rating still gives it an “Everyone” rating and mentions there will be “Comic Mischief” in the title, it no longer cautions people about “In-Game Purchases,” like it did earlier in February 2020. This isn’t a clear confirmation or denial about potential in-game purchases in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It could be that the rating is still in a state of flux and definitive information isn’t available yet. It is important to note that games that do have add-ons, like Fire Emblem: Three Houses with its season pass and expansion, have “In-Game Purchases” in the rating.
One thing to note is that this update has also removed the “Users Interact” designation as well. This seems odd, given that Animal Crossing: New Horizons does have confirmed multiplayer and the official product page does mention both Online Play and Smartphone App support.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Nintendo Switch debut is drawing nearer. The game is set to be released on March 20, 2020. It will even get its own Nintendo Switch model.
