Animal Crossing amiibo cards will be restocking at Japanese storefronts. This will include amiibo cards from all four series and the “Welcome Amiibo” series. This does not include the Sanrio collaboration amiibo cards. Players can expect to get their hands on these precious pieces of cardboard sometime in June 2020. [Thanks, GAME Watch!]
Since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, amiibo cards have been flying off of the shelves. Japanese news outlet Game Watch reported that the first re-release of the amiibo cards has completely sold out. Additionally, the outlet also mentioned that the prices of the cards have skyrocketed online, with some cards being sold upwards of ¥10,000 (roughly around $90 USD).
This is due to the fact that the amiibo cards are also compatible with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Player can scan their amiibo cards to get their favorite villagers to spawn at campsites, making them eligible to recruit to your island. Due to the popularity of specific villagers, certain cards are being sold for well over their initial value. So if you’re looking to get your hands on these elusive, and now expensive, cards keep your eyes peeled for when the cards restock in June.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re just getting started and want to learn how to unlock the different amenities your island can offer you can check out our guide.
