Now that San Diego Comic Con 2024 has come and gone, it is time to take a look back at all of the fantastic announcements that were revealed during the event. From new movie titles to shocking casting reveals, here are all of the Marvel announcements that happened at SDCC 2024.
All Marvel SDCC 2024 New Casting Announcements
The Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con 2024 on Saturday, July 27, 2024, revealed a ton of new information about the future of the MCU. First up is the reveal of the Fantastic Four movie as The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The superhero family will feature Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the stars. Their core villain will be Galactus.
Captain America: Brave New World, as you may already know, is the fourth mainline series for the hero. The new villain in this film will be Sidewinder, played by the brilliant Giancarlo Esposito. The most important announcement of the event, though, is Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU. He will play the infamous Doctor Doom from this point forward.
All Marvel Movie Release Date Reveals
Alongside the announcement of various cast members, there were also announcements about the Marvel slate of films at SDCC 2024. Here are the current release dates and windows for the confirmed movies that were noted at the panel:
- Captain America: Brave New World – February 14, 2025
- Thunderbolts: May 2, 2025
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps – July 25, 2025
- Blade: November 7, 2025
- Avengers: Doomsday – May 1, 2026
- Avengers: Secret Wars – May 7, 2027
In addition to this upcoming lineup, we now know the Russo Brothers will return for both Avengers films. Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will likely make a minor debut in The Fantastic Four. This will tease his eventual starring role in both Avengers films.
