Creating a new world in Core Keeper can be a pretty daunting experience, even for veteran survival crafting players. This is due to the plethora of world generation and world seed options available to players in Core Keeper. These can be a bit confusing and unique, but they define your overall experience.
What Does World Seed Do in Core Keeper?
If you’ve played any similar survival games like Lego Fortnite in the past, you may already have an idea of what the world seed does. The world seed pretty much determines what your world will look like, what biomes it has, and how the layout will be. You can let the game randomly decide the seed or you can input a random number yourself.
However, the general idea of the world seed is to share with others. Someone might discover a world full of monsters in every corner and share that seed online for others. You can then input that same seed and receive the same world to play on.
How Every World Generation Option Works
While the world seed itself is pretty standard in Core Keeper, the world generation settings are not. There are some very unique settings available in this game that may be a bit confusing for players just starting out. Here are all of the world generation options and what each one of them does:
- Biome Chaos: This is a fascinating feature that determines how often biomes crash into one another and overlap. It can lead to some wild worlds if you turn it up.
- Ore Density: This determines how much biome-specific ore you find, which can make the gameplay easier.
- Tunnels: This setting changes the frequency and size of tunnel networks.
- Chambers: Changes how many large cavernous areas there are and their general size.
- Rivers: Determines how many rivers there are and how complex they can be.
- Lakes: Changes the number of lakes and their general scale.
- Pits: Determines how often pits appear and large they are.
- Ceiling Holes: Changes the number of holes in the ceiling that allow natural light in.
Core Keeper 1.0 is now available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will also release for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on September 17, 2024.
