While Namco Bandai made a few AKB48 dating sims, Kadokawa Games is working on an AKB48 idol simulation game. Titled AKB48+Me, this upcoming Nintendo 3DS game gives you (well your Mii) a chance to join the pop group.

The AKB48 girls appear as Miis in the game and might look something like their sister group NMB48 (right) who were available as special Miis in Japan.

AKB48+Me has players go to TV shows, meet and greet events, and rock-paper-scissors tournaments with the AKB48 girls in hopes of becoming an idol. Players have three years to hang out and bond with the current AKB48 roster. During stage events, AKB48+Me plays like a rhythm action game with AKB48 music in the background.

On top of the idol simulation mode there is AKB Theater where players organize a stage show for AKB48 and a dress up mode where you can choose different clothes. AKB48+Me is slated for release in Japan sometime in 2012.
