A Gmail Shoot-Em-Up Coded In HTML5

Creative Technologist at Google, Paul Truong, has coded a short Gmail-themed shoot-em-up in HTML5 as a “thank you” of sorts to his colleagues in Google’s Gmail division for their contribution to the webmail space. You can give it a try here.

 

You’ll want to make sure you’re using a browser that supports HTML5 before clicking the direct link in the Google blog post or the game won’t work. Playing this honestly made me think about how it would be kind of cool to have games built into Gmail itself, using the Gmail interface as different elements.

 

What that would do to the entire world’s productivity, of course, is another matter…
