This summer, Japan will see a flood of expensive, branded memory sticks released by Kadokawa Shoten and Hori. What’s so special about them? Nothing, really, other than the fact that they’re branded with popular licenses and some of them come with content like PSP themes.
One of these is this Haruhi memory stick on the right from Kadokawa Shoten, which is due out on June 23rd. This will go for 3,980 yen (about $49.00) and will come with this custom PSP theme:
Next up is Steins;Gate memory stick, also from Kadokawa Shoten. Like the Haruhi stick, this will also go for 3,980 yen on June 23rd and will come with a custom theme:
Hori are trying something different with a Taiko no Tatsujin memory stick. Theirs comes with a custom PSP theme and the song “Fantasy of the Wind”. In a twist, it’s actually cheaper at 3,480 yen ($43.00) and is due out on July 14th.
Prefer anime instead? Don’t worry, here’s a A Certain Scientific Railgun stick, also for 3,480 yen. This one’s due out a little later, in August.
Finally, Capcom have their own branded PSP sticks coming, too, and naturally, they’re based on Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter Diary G is releasing on August 25th, and this stick will be released day and date with the game for 3,129 yen ($39.00).
All of these are Mark2 sticks. Incidentally, you can grab a regular Sony ProDuo 4GB Mark2 memory stick at Rakuten for just a little over 2,000 yen (that’s $25.00). Amazon has them going for even lower.
