Masahiro Ito shared some details of his involvement with a new Silent Hill 2 Pyramid Head (Red Pyramid Thing) figure. This particular statue of Pyramid Head is from Gecco, and it started shipping out between March and May 2023.
Gecco describes this figure as a statue that recreates details the Silent Hill 2 team wanted on Pyramid Head, but could not put on the in-game model due to the PlayStation’s technical limitations. Because it’s wielding a long spear, it looks more like the executioner from Silent Hill’s in-game history. Other details include open wounds, torn clothing, and a rough texture on his iconic pyramid helmet. It also looks like the helmet broke at some point, and he fixed it up with a patch of leather.
Here are some more pictures of the Pyramid Head statue:
This is the only Pyramid Head (Red Pyramid Thing) statue that Ito has supervised in an official capacity. As a reminder, Masahiro Ito was the art director and monster designer of Silent Hill 2. He still Tweets stories about the development of the game, alongside his daily life (such as a recipe for toast) and art. According to his Twitter account, Gecco started working on this statue in 2014 and Ito received pay for both supervision and the box art. One of the pre-order bonuses was also a booklet containing sketches for this model, which Ito drew.
The Red Pyramid Thing statue from Silent Hill 2 is available to order via Gecco. It costs 42,000 JPY ($280.85) and stands at 340 millimeters tall, as it’s a 1/6 scale.
