The MW3 kicked for inactivity while playing error is one of the most common ones players are dealing with, and this isn’t an issue with the game or you. In fact, this problem is occurring exactly the way developer Sledgehammer Games intended it. Basically, the game tries to prevent players from going AFK (away from keyboard, or controller in some cases) for no reason.
If the game recognizes someone hasn’t moved during the match for a period of time, they’ll be kicked out of it without warning. Unfortunately, the problem with this is that the timer for inactivity is quite short in this game. I would say it is even shorter than some of the last few titles in the Call of Duty series. This means it is much easier to disconnect from the match this way.
How do I avoid getting kicked for inactivity?
If you happen to camp a lot or hold down points, you may get the kicked for inactivity error while playing in MW3. This happened to me once already for holding a Hardpoint in a match. The timer seems to be less than 30 seconds, or perhaps even only around 15-20 seconds of not moving, depending on the mode in my experience. As such, the goal here is to move a little bit constantly.
If I am holding a line or point, I will often walk back-and-forth and hold the left trigger to aim. This shows the game I am still here and helps me remain active. I recommend doing the same, even if you are camping. Another option is to constantly switch weapons. This may make you more vulnerable to being seen or heard, but it is better that than getting kicked for no reason. Always stay moving, especially in a fast-paced game like this, and you should be fine.
