Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features an in-depth and iterative version of the combat from the previous two Insomniac titles in the web-slinging franchise. This includes various moves, gadgets, and even finishers you can execute while playing as either Peter Parker or Miles Morales.
How to use a Finisher in Spider-Man 2
In Spider-Man 2, finishers are epic cinematic moves that automatically knock out opponents. To perform them, you must get close to the enemy you want to use it on so you are within melee range. Once you are close enough, you should see the finisher option appear above their head. Simply press the button combo of Triangle and Circle or L1 and R1 at the same time.
Pressing these two buttons together instantly triggers a finisher move, eliminating most regular enemies in a single hit. Finishers are imperative for players who want to deal with large groups of foes quickly, especially in higher-difficulty settings where a couple of hits can deal significant damage to Spider-Man.
How to gain Focus in Spider-Man 2
But in order to even have the option to use Spider-Man 2 Finishers, you need Focus. The attack energy is the bright orange bars in the top left corner of your screen during combat, right underneath Spider-Man’s HP. It costs a single bar of Focus to deal a finisher to an enemy. This means if you have four bars of Focus, you could theoretically use four finishers in a row.
To gain more Focus in Spider-Man 2, you’ll need to use normal attacks via the Square button, parries, and dodges. Keep these up, and you should see your Focus bars fill up quite often. You will be able to use another finisher move once you have a full Focus bar again.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available exclusively for PS5.
