You will need to know how to use Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen if you want to survive in the game’s challenging campaign. Here is everything you need to know about the unique checkpoint feature.
In order to push forward in Lords of the Fallen, you are going to have to pass through many long paths of enemies. While you will find Vestiges to act as checkpoints along your journey, even these can sometimes become sparse. With only one or two Vestiges per major area, you can quickly find yourself lost or desperate for health.
Fortunately, you can create your own checkpoints using Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen. Vestige Seeds can be planted throughout your map to act as a portable checkpoint as you explore the overworld, making them a vital safeguard against losing your progress.
How to acquire Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen
The two main methods of acquiring Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen are purchasing them from a vendor or picking them up as a reward from bosses that drop them. Vestige Seeds can be purchased from the Umbral Realm merchant Mohlu in Skyrest Bridge for 2,500 Vigor. While this may seem steep, the price will be pocket-change to you by the time you reach the late-game areas.
The other way of acquiring Vestige Seeds is by defeating bosses. Every major and minor boss you defeat will drop at least one Vestige Seed. Additionally, there will usually be an Umbral Flowerbed at the center of the arena where you can immediately use it.
Vestige Seeds are occasionally dropped by various enemies as well, particularly ones within the Umbral Realm. One example is the Bringer of Stillness, the floating ghoul in a black hood with two swords. Another example is the Womb of Despair, the large-bellied undead with moth wings. As both of these Umbral foes are tough and not commonly encountered, you should not use them as your main method of farming Vestige Seeds.
While stocking up on Vestige Seeds is essential, you should also know that you can only hold five at a time. Again, always be sure that you always have at least one on hand, as there will always be a time when you will need one. However, you will want to stop farming enemies once you reach your maximum capacity, as you will just be wasting your time.
Where to use Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen
Vestige seeds can be used on the Umbral Flowerbeds found throughout Axiom. Umbral Flowerbeds are patches of white flowers you will find far more often than regular Vestiges. You will know when you found them when your Umbral Lantern icon begins pulsating with blue energy.
To use an Umbral Flowerbed, hold out your lantern and activate it (done by pressing F on PC). The Vestige you create through this method takes the form of an armless corpse facing upward with pale tendrils around its face.
It is important to know that you can only have one Vestige Seed planted at a time. Once you plant one, the previous one vanishes, meaning you should be cautious when replacing your Vestiges.
Lords of the Fallen is available for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
