Shiny Dipplin is a rare Pokemon that you can obtain in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC. However, you will need to find a Shiny Applin and use its special evolution method first to add the caramel apple to your Kitakami Pokedex. Here is how to get a Shiny Dipplin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Where to find Shiny Applin’s location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask
After finding Dipplin for the very first time in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC, I found myself wishing that it was a caramel apple instead. Imagine my surprise when I learned that its Shiny form was just that! However, to obtain the sweet snack evolution, you need to have already caught a Shiny Applin.
The best way to get a Shiny Applin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask is to trigger an Applin Mass Outbreak in the Paldea region map. The quickest method to do this is to make a custom sandwich with the picnic feature. Using Avocado, Shiny Herba Mystica, and Salty Herba Mystica ingredients will then give you a level three buff to Shiny Dragon Pokemon encounters.
With the sandwich buff active, Shiny Applin can be found in the Tagtree Thicket forest in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet during a Mass Outbreak. To reach the forest area, head to the East Province (Area Three) fast travel point north of Zapapico village.
If you don’t have an Applin Mass Outbreak in your game despite having your sandwich buff, you will need to reset your map. Below are the steps you can take to reset the outbreaks in your game until an Applin appears in Tagtree Thicket:
- Press the Home button on your Nintendo Switch.
- Go to your System Settings.
- Scroll down to the System tab, and then select the Date and Time option.
- Turn off Synchronize Clock via the Internet.
- Change your current date by a single day to reset your Pokemon Scarlet and Violet map.
- Hop back into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and see if an Applin Mass Outbreak has spawned.
- If you don’t see an Applin Mass outbreak, repeat the steps above until it shows up in Tagtree Thickett.
It should only take a few minutes to get the Applin Mass Outbreak to appear in Tagtree Thicket with the Level 3 Shiny Dragon encounter buff active. Once it spawns on the map, run around the area until you spot a green apple in the grass. If you don’t see a Shiny Applin right away, then activate your picnic setting and exit it to reset the spawns in your area. Keep repeating this until you find the green fruit.
It only took me around five minutes to find a Shiny Applin. However, it’s also recommended you save your game before creating your sandwich, as your increased Shiny rate will deactivate after thirty minutes of real-life gameplay time. If you have bad luck and can’t find the rare apple, then just reload your save and create a sandwich again to trigger the mass outbreak.
How to evolve Shiny Applin into Shiny Dipplin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask
Once you have a Shiny Applin on your team, it’s time to head back to the Kitakami region map. To evolve Shiny Dipplin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask, you need to use the Syrupy Apple evolution item on Shiny Applin. To find the rare item, head to the Mossfell Confluence, which is located southeast of the Moussi Town Community Center.
In the southern corner of Mossfell Confluence is a food stand that sells the Syrupy Apple for 500 coins a piece. Below, I have provided the exact map location where you can purchase Syrupy Apples in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:
Finally, press the X button on your Nintendo Switch controller to access your bag. Next, find the Syrupy Apple item in your Other Items tab and click “use it” on the Shiny Applin that is in your party. This will automatically trigger its evolution into Shiny Dipplin!
Congratulations – you are now the owner of the adorably delicious caramel apple! Seriously though, Shiny Dipplin is easily one of the best shinies in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask DLC.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and The Teal Mask DLC are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
