Picking a weapon in a game as intense as Blasphemous 2 is not only a great opportunity, but also something that will shape how you play and traverse through the game. Do you like raw power, speed, or a bit of both? There are options that cover every angle.
Deciding on a Blasphemous 2 weapon:
Once you begin your Blasphemous 2 adventure, you will be met with the first major choice of the game: which weapon to wield. Each of them has specific stats regarding raw power, speed, and also their ability to interact with the eerie and creepy environment. This last one is very important, since picking up a specific weapon will make certain areas of the game accessible to you from the start, altering the order in which you might progress through the game. Don’t worry though, you will be able to unlock the remaining two weapons in the game via exploration, so you won’t be missing out on trying the three of them.
Here is the Blasphemous 2 weapon list:
- Ruego al Alba: A standard sword that features a powerful strike along with average speed. You can also parry with this weapon. It is the most balanced weapon of the bunch. Allows you to destroy vine blocks by downward attack mid-air with enough height to become powered.
- Sarmiento & Centella: Two rapiers that are the fastest weapons in the game, but also the weakest. You can spam the enemy with attacks but lacks some verticality. You can block with these rapiers but your parrying capabilities are decimated due to lack of resistance. By striking floating mirrors with Sarmiento & Centella, you will teleport toward the reflection’s direction, even skipping certain obstacles.
- Veredicto: The ball and chain of the game, Veredicto is by far the most powerful weapon in the game, but what it has in power, it lacks in speed. It is very slow, but it has the most range out of the three weapons. Not only that, but it will easily stun the enemies and push them backward, allowing for great crowd control and enemy attack cancelation. The Veredicto will also activate bluebells that will make blue platforms appear with the sound wave, allowing the player to reach inaccessible areas.
Which Weapon Should Someone Pick in Blasphemous 2?
As you can see, these three weapons adapt to three different playing styles. I would strongly recommend either picking Ruego al Alba or Veredicto as your first weapon. While the mobility and speed of Sarmiento & Centella are beyond great, their subpar damage output is not worth your time, especially at the beginning of the game.
Picking Ruego al Alba is the most logical choice, since it brings enough power and speed to be able to sustain a playthrough, and it combines perfectly with its parry and the dodging capabilities of the Penitent One.
Veredicto, on the other hand, while lacking parrying or blocking abilities, provides a huge advantage over enemies at range. Its massive attack allows you to attack enemies that are behind obstacles and even below platforms. Its attacks may be slow, but it fully compensates with raw power.
Blasphemous 2 is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
