Lyney is Fontaine’s first five-star character in Genshin Impact, and there are many weapons you can choose to equip him with. However, you will want to use the right bow, because the crafty magician has a unique gameplay mechanic that powers his damage.
Which weapons should I use with Lyney in Genshin Impact?
Lyney is interesting because his damage scales any time his health is lowered or raised. This makes sense because the character actually loses health every time he releases his Grim-Malkin Hat with a full-charged shot from his bow. The trick Lyney pulls off is that he also heals himself after using his Elemental Skill to detonate the Grin-Malkin Hat currently active on the field.
The Fontaine magician also has his damage buffed by 20% for each Pyro character that is on his team due to his Conclusive Ovation Talent. Because of his unique design, Lyney’s best weapon in Genshin Impact is The First Great Magic bow. The five-star weapon not only increases his CRIT DMG by 14%, but also increases his Charged Attacks by 16% for every party member that shares his elemental type. This raises his attack damage a substantial amount with both his Talent and Weapon stacking together.
However, not everyone has money to throw at Gacha banners. Thankfully, HoYoVerse has added a free-to-play alternative with the Song of Stillness. The free four-star bow can be crafted after you purchase the blueprints from Fontaine Blacksmith Estelle. The craftable weapon increases Lyney’s damage each time his health is lowered or raised, which again perfectly synergizes with his main gameplay gimmick.
Below is the list of the best weapons for Lyney in Genshin Impact:
- The First Great Magic – CRIT DMG + 14.4% / DMG dealt by Charged Attacks increased by 16%. For every party member with the same Elemental Type as the wielder (including the wielder themselves), gain one Gimmick stack. For every party member with a different Elemental Type from the wielder, gain one Theatrics stack. When the wielder has 1, 2, 3, or more Gimmick stacks, ATK will be increased by 16%/32%/48%. When the wielder has 1, 2, 3, or more Theatrics stacks, Movement SPD will be increased by 4%/7%/10%. When switching characters, the new character taking the field has their ATK increased by 24% for 10 seconds. This effect can only occur once every 20 seconds.
- Aqua Simulacra – CRIT DMG 19.20% / HP is increased by 16%. When there are opponents nearby, the DMG dealt by the wielder of this weapon is increased by 20%. This will take effect whether the character is on-field or not.
- Polar Star – CRIT Rate 7.2% / Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG increased by 12%. After a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst hits an opponent, one stack of Ashen Nightstar will be gained for 12 seconds. When 1, 2, 3, 4 stacks of Ashen Nightstar are present, ATK is increased by 10/20/30/48%. The stack of Ashen Nightstar created by the Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst will be counted independently of the others.
- Song of Stillness – ATK + 9.0% / After the wielder is healed, they will deal 16% more DMG for eight seconds. This can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.
- Scion of the Blazing Sun – CRIT Rate + 4.0% / After a Charged Attack hits an opponent, a Sunfire Arrow will descend upon the opponent hit, dealing 60% ATK as DMG, and applying the Heartsearer effect to the opponent damaged by said Arrow for 10 seconds. Opponents affected by Heartsearer take 28% more Charged Attack DMG from the wielder. A Sunfire Arrow can be triggered once every 10 seconds.
The Genshin Impact 4.0 update also added new weapons to the game’s battle pass for the first time, and it features a solid option for Fontaine’s favorite magician. The Scion of the Blazing Sun bow can be earned after reaching level 30 on the season pass for those who pay $9.99 to unlock the Gnostic Hymn.
Genshin Impact is available now on the PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Android and iOS devices.
