Viz have launched a manga app on the iTunes store for the iPad, the company announced earlier this week. While the Viz Manga App itself can be downloaded for free, the library of manga content will, naturally, require a fee.

The Viz Manga App’s library at debut consists primarily of shounen series. Bleach vols. 1-2, Death Note vols. 1-2, Dragon Ball vol. 1, Naruto vols. 1-2 and One Piece vols. 1-2, along with the recently licensed Bakuman vol. 1 were made available on launch day.

A week from launch, Viz will add popular shoujo series, Ouran High School Host Club to the line-up with vol. 1 joining their digital iPad portfolio.

All volumes will be available for download directly within the application itself for $4.99 per volume. At present, Death Note vol. 1 is available for free, as a means to allow users to sample the app.

Viz are promising regular and frequent updates to the Viz Manga App, going forward.
