Uta Macross is a mobile rhythm game available exclusively in Japan since August 3, 2017. It features singers and pilots from all mainline Macross anime shows. The musician roster includes Lynn Minmay from the inaugural title, Basara Nekki and Mylene Jenius from Macross 7, Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier, and the Walküre group from Macross Delta. Background cutscenes during gameplay also feature Variable Fighters piloted by the series’ protagonists, such as Hikaru Ichijo and Hayate Immelmann.

The Macross series used to be largely inaccessible outside Japan. Its video games—including Uta Macross—and Super Robot Wars entries that include its titles appeared exclusively in the country. In April 2021, Harmony Gold and Big West signed a historic agreement. It effectively greenlit global releases for the franchise’s movies and sequels. Flash Back 2012 is still available globally on the franchise’s YouTube channel. Macross Plus: Movie Edition premiered in U.S. theaters on December 14, 2021.

Uta Macross: Smartphone DeCulture is available on Android and iOS devices in Japan until June 28, 2022.
