Bandai Namco Holdings published a new Purpose page on its website to mark the official adoption of its new logo in the 2022 fiscal year. There are two new videos shown on the page. Both of them feature Gundam as one of Bandai Namco’s flagship franchises.
The Dance and Music version imagines the life-sized RX-78-2 Gundam—presently stationed in Yokohama, Japan—walking freely without getting attached to its port. The Products and Services version begins by showing a Gunpla runner, with its parts eventually forming the Mobile Suit. The latter video also features Bandai Namco’s staple game franchises Taiko no Tatsujin and Pac-Man.
Bandai Namco revealed its new logo on October 1, 2021. The company officially enacted its logo replacement at the start of the 2022 fiscal year, which began on April 1, 2022.
The company group has also since completely owned the Gundam franchise. It turned Gundam‘s licensor Sotsu into its subsidiary in March 2020. While Sunrise has been affiliated with the group since 1994, Bandai Namco merged the anime production company to form Bandai Namco Filmworks in the 2022 fiscal year. Despite the company reorganization, the group still lists Sotsu and Sunrise copyrights when it included the Gundam in its videos.
In late March 2022, Bandai Namco and Sunrise revealed a teaser trailer for the 2022 anime show Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and a Metaverse project based on the Gundam franchise.
