Nihon Falcom published new streaming guidelines that apply to user-uploaded videos and streams based on its games. The company generally only allows non-profit uploads on websites, blogs, and social media. However, it makes an exception for monetization made through official partnership features on video sites, such as YouTube and Twitch.
In the guidelines, Nihon Falcom asks users to refrain from publishing gameplay videos of its titles before the official release dates. However, the company may make exceptions when it directly requests another person or company to publish its content ahead of time.
In addition to the above, Falcom also asks users to place spoiler warnings on videos that contain important story events. It forbids uploads of game content found through illegal methods, such as data mining and mods.
As uploads and streams of games by users have become widespread, more Japanese companies have decided to set up official guidelines to regulate videos based on their games in the country. Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, Sega, and Capcom are some of the companies that have set up comprehensive streaming guidelines for multiple game titles.
The latest title that Nihon Falcom has published to date is The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, which is available for PlayStation 4 in Japan. The company will releaseĀ The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails – Ad Astra for Nintendo Switch on May 26, 2022, andĀ The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II – Crimson SiN for PlayStation 4 and 5 in Fall 2022.
