The person behind the Hololive VTuber Amane Kanata has tested positive for COVID-19. She first reported on Twitter that she had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit) around midnight JST on February 14, 2022. Although she tested negative on February 13, 2022, a new test taken the day after resulted in a positive case.
The VTuber had been preparing to move into a new residence. In her statement, Kanata claimed that the only close contact at risk was her roommate. She kept a distance from staff members that helped her move, in accordance with the social distancing rules. Kanata also assured fans that she had not come into contact with other Hololive VTubers within two days before she started having symptoms.
