The SSSS.Gridman anime series aired in 2018. A sequel titled SSSS.Dynazenon, was broadcast in 2021. Gridman aired during Adult Swim’s Toonami block starting in January 2021. The first series is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation, while Dynazenon is also available on the latter.
Studio Trigger launched the new Gridman Universe with SSSS.Gridman, which was loosely based on the 1993-94 tokusatsu drama series Gridman the Hyper Agent by Tsuburaya Productions. The original story follows Yuta Hibiki, a high school freshman suffering from amnesia. After meeting the Hyper Agent Gridman in an old computer, he learns that he has a mission he must complete. When kaiju suddenly appear in his town of Tsutsujidai, Yuta finds that he can merge with Gridman in order to fight them off–however, after the beasts attack, people’s memories are reset and those who lose their lives are forgotten. Those with the power to fight back call themselves the “Gridman Alliance,” and start on a journey to find the truth behind these bizarre happenings.
The Gridman x Dynazenon film does not yet have a release date.
