Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone offered more details about the new game Haunted Chocolatier. Rather than talk about characters or chocolate, it talked about the various battle elements. Like Stardew Valley, players’ avatars will get into a fight. But this time, new elements go over how combat will work and the shields people can wield.
Carrying a shield will be a big part of combat. As Barone noted, one can protect a player against damage. A successful block can result in a stun, which is showcased in the clip below. It isn’t guaranteed that the status affect will be applied. However, it could happen.

Barone also made the following statement about the game’s development. It emphasizes the importance of the action-RPG elements.
Haunted Chocolatier has a greater focus on combat, so it needs to be very fun, satisfying, and engaging, while also appropriately fitting into the big picture. You can rest assured that I’m not “copying and pasting” Stardew’s combat. On the contrary, almost everything in Haunted Chocolatier, including the combat, is completely coded (and drawn) from scratch.
Haunted Chocolatier is in development for PCs, with additional platforms planned.
