miHoYo uploaded a character trailer to provide more information on Thoma, the next new character in Genshin Impact. Thoma is a Pyro polearm user from Inazuma who, similar to Xinyan, can attack and shield at the same time. Thoma will appear on the Hu Tao banner, which will start after the current Childe re-run banner. Farewell of Snezhnaya will end on November 2, 2021.
Thoma will work as an offensive support character in Genshin Impact. His skill Blazing Blessing deals Pyro DMG and creates a shield. This shield will absorb Pyro DMG and applies Pyro to himself. His Elemental Burst, Scorching Ooyoroi, will also deal Pyro DMG. In addition, normal attacks while Scorching Ooyoroi is in effect will deal Pyro DMG and summon a Blazing Barrier. His shield will only absorb a certain percentage of his max HP, meaning Thoma will benefit from artifacts that boost his health.

Those who have played through the Inazuma story in Genshin Impact should be familiar with Thoma. He is a key player in the story, as well as the star of his own Hangout Event. Thoma works for the Yashiro Commission and is a close friend of Ayaka’s.
In English, Christian Banas voices Thoma. He also voiced Aiden on Rainbow High and Lugh Tuatha De on The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat. In Japanese, Masakazu Morita plays Thoma. Other roles Morita is famous for include Tidus from Final Fantasy X and Ichigo from Bleach.
Genshin Impact is readily available worldwide on mobile devices, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC. A Nintendo Switch version is in development.
