The arcade game creator has so far only published the Touhou Perfect Sakura Fantastica logo. It has not revealed any gameplay footage or character design in the upcoming title. However, it will reveal more details about the title at the 8th Hakurei Shrine Fall Reitaisai. The Touhou Project-specific doujin expo will take place at Tokyo Big Sight on October 24, 2021.

Touhou Project originated as a series of shoot’em up games created by a single developer. Jun’ya “ZUN” Oota made the gameplay, music, and characters all by himself and released the games on PC Engine and Windows PCs. The franchise’s popularity in Japan spawned many fan-made derivative games.

The latest mainline game from ZUN is the 16th title Touhou Kouryudou ~ Unconnected Marketeers. It is immediately available on PC. Team Shanghai Alice released the game digitally first on Steam.

exA-Arcadia is not the only company working on a Touhou game. In July 2021, Cave revealed that it is developing its own game based on the same franchise after receiving consent from the IP holder. While Cave has yet to announce any platforms, it plans to release the game in 2022.

Touhou Perfect Sakura Fantastica will be available in arcades. exA-Arcadia has not announced a release window for the upcoming arcade game.
